The Australian AI
Salary & Talent Report

Australia has no credible public benchmark for what AI talent earns. Every existing "salary guide" is gated marketing with an undisclosed method. We're building the reference instrument — and publishing it free, ungated, every year.

Methodology — stated before a single number is published

How it's built

Individually interviewed, never scraped. Every data point comes from a structured conversation with a working AI professional or hiring leader — not from job ads, not from scraped profiles, not from self-selected web surveys. It's the method that made Burtch Works the reference for the US market, applied to Australia for the first time.

Stated sample, stated segmentation. The published report states its sample size, collection window, role taxonomy and segmentation rules. Where a cell is too thin to report responsibly, we say so rather than smooth over it.

Ungated, permanently. No email wall. The report is a public reference, designed to be cited — by candidates negotiating, by employers budgeting, by anyone writing about this market.

What Edition 1 covers: permanent compensation by role family and seniority across our five practices, Sydney/Melbourne/rest-of-AU splits, equity and bonus prevalence, contract day rates, and the structural findings from several hundred interviews with the people building AI in Australia.
